WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- Critical Care Specialists and/or Fellows in Emergency Medicine, Retrieval, Intensive Care, or Anaestheticsย
- Senior Critical Care Registrars in Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, or Anaesthetics
- Rural GPs/CMOs involved in retrievals/trauma resuscitationย

FORMAT
Trauma Masterclass
Our multi-modal agenda will include advanced-level case explorations, low-fidelity simulation, debates, panel discussions, and both large and small-group work to provide deep learning and confidence-building education. We will take full advantage of our beautiful Tuscan setting with curb-side scenarios and fantastic social and networking events. Our stunning learning space is designed for intellectual and cultural exchange in the heritage-listed Palazzo Vaj, Monash University Prato Campus.ย
Learning topics will include traumatic cardiac arrest, airway management, massive transfusion, burns, spinal clearance and spinal injury, solid organ injuries, chest injuries; and life, limb, sight-saving injuries.ย
The program will require approximately three hours of pre-course reading and preparation and then attendance at the full 2.5-day workshop.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Understand the importance of trauma systems and their impact on patient outcomesย
- Develop and extend skills in rapid clinical decision-making in traumaย
- Examine contemporary evidence for providing multi-trauma patient careย
- Analyse the connections between human factors and clinical careย
- Discuss the centrality of teaching and research in trauma care advancementย
- Explore pre-hospital trauma care and its integration with in-hospital trauma receptionย
- Evaluate the use of investigative modalities in trauma care (e.g. TEG vs ROTEM, Radiology CT Scan vs. Theatre)ย

These optional group dinners are an excellent opportunity to get to know other delegates outside of the course. They are open to delegates attending the Trauma Masterclass and the Emergency Medicine Leadership Course.

Cancelled registrations can be transferred to an alternative course or held in credit and used in the next 24 months.

Substitution
If, after booking an event you are unable to attend, you are welcome to nominate someone else to attend in your place. Please advise substitutions via email so a correct name tag will be available at the registration desk. CPD hours will be allocated to the substitute delegate.
Refunds
- Cancellation more than 30 days before the event: 70% refund.
- Cancellation less than 30 days: no refund. A credit will be provided and can be used over 24-months from the date of cancellation.
- Cancellation must be in writing.
A/PROF JOSEPH MATHEW
A/Prof Mathew has been successfully involved in Trauma systems development across Asia in countries like India, Sri Lanka, China and Saudi Arabia. He was the Australian lead of the successfully completed Australia- India Trauma System Collaboration which involved systems development, registry development and technology development. He is done work as a consultant in trauma systems development.

DR CLARE RICHMOND
Dr Richmond is an emergency physician who provides critical care anywhere in her role a s pre-hospital and retrieval medicine specialist with NSW Ambulance, where she is Supervisor of Medical Training and a State Retrieval Consultant. On other days, Clare can be found in the emergency department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, asking her team โwhat do you want to learn about today?โ musing the same thoughts for her own time, seeking always to discover. She enjoys educating multidisciplinary clinicians for Sydney HEMS, Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, the University of Sydney and at the courses and conferences across the globe. She has worked both Central Australia and central London, amongst other locations. Clare is curious about teamwork and how to make things better for both staff and patients. When she is not flying in the sky (or helping others to be airborne), this curly haired doctor can be found doing yoga or taking her dog Archie on adventures.
