EMERGENCY NURSE LEADERSHIP COURSE
PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A LEADERSHIP ROLE

“Based on my experiences in previous in-services and professional development programs (one of them based on developing staff towards in-charge roles) – I thought the session would be a lot of slide shows, lectures and just being talked at. I thought it was great that it was an interactive session and seemed to flow around what we needed.”

“An excellent course that I will be telling my fellow staff they need to attend. Spending a whole day on ourselves was a weird yet wonderful concept! Normally at development days it’s a whole lot of words thrown at you- but this course was ‘intimate’ and we were welcomed to have input!”

“I found this course useful as I was looking for something that was a general approach that covered leadership and major areas that leaders would participate in, ie. QI and change. therefore this course was quite useful to me as I am only starting off as a leader”.

“Thank you for the opportunity to attend this programme. I felt privileged to attend and I found some aspects invigorating, thought provoking and challenging. Watching my colleagues engage and perform was an added benefit as I learnt a lot about them also having the opportunity to observe in action. Engaging with other nurses from other organisations also provided me with the opportunity to network and learn from their experiences”.

“Thanks for a great two days. I have learnt a lot about myself and my senior management team. I strongly believe this course has helped me to cement where I want to go in terms of my career progression and it has encouraged me to take risks and ask for what I want. The opportunity to meet both the facilitators and participants was amazing”.

“I have already recommended the program to my colleagues. I’ve always lived, trained and worked in a rural area – this was my first time travelling into Melbourne for training, and my first contact with a tertiary hospital program. I am keen to attend more education opportunities that the Alfred hosts in the future”.

“I really like the way the course in very interactive, you all are skilled in directing conversations to promote learning. Much better than listening to a lecturer drone on. Enabling ED nurses to share their personal views and experiences is incredibly powerful. That is one of the major strengths of the course, having the participants all from the same speciality promotes great conversations. Nurses love to tell and hear stories, makes a personal impact and a great tool for learning”.
