Operating Australasia’s busiest trauma centre, a major metropolitan emergency department and a community-based emergency department treating adult and paediatric patients, Alfred Health is a leader in the provision of emergency and trauma care.

Our inter-disciplinary team works together to provide timely, quality care. Based on this ethos we have developed a broad range of education and knowledge exchange activities open to all healthcare professionals and delivered in collaboration with Monash University.

Learn more about our educational opportunities:

Short courses

We run medical and nursing courses on emergency and trauma topics throughout the year. These programs are offered regularly in Australia and Europe, with limited deliveries in the Middle East and Asia. Most of these programs can be adapted for in-service delivery in any location.

Conferences

We provide regular updates on changes in practice and evidence-based medicine at large-scale symposium events, attracting attendees to Melbourne from across Australia. These events also provide an invaluable opportunity for networking. For those who can’t attend, we share practicing-changing presentations via our Education website.

Certificate courses

We deliver 6-to-24-month specialisation courses in emergency medicine and nursing including advanced scope/nurse practitioner training. These programs are open to health professionals with varied education and experience. They are delivered using online and face-to-face methodologies and prepare graduates for senior and leadership positions in emergency.

Postgraduate awards

We offer a Fellowship program which provides mid-career clinicians with an opportunity to gain experience in our Emergency & Trauma Centre. Fellows undertake an immersive clinical placement in parallel with completing structured learning and assessment programs. Fellows have the opportunity to pathway with credits into Monash University Masters programs.

GLOBAL collaborations

We engage actively with the global health community via ongoing education and research collaborations, and through our commitment to charitable and aid projects. Current projects include collaborations with colleagues in India, Germany, Myanmar, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Models of care

We are committed to sharing our investment in the development of innovative models of care. Our Nurse Practitioner, Streaming/Triage, Behaviours of Concern and Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy models are frequently adopted in locations across the world.
