Dr Rose Skalicky
Dr Rose Skalicky(-Klein) is a Senior Emergency Medicine Specialist with a desire for equitable, accessible, and quality emergency care health services for all people, wherever they may be. For the past decade she has been involved in humanitarian work in low resourced countries: 2010-2012 she worked in rural Tanzania and in 2013 she moved to Yangon, Myanmar, returning to Australia mid-January 2021.
She is an honorary Professor with University of Medicine 1, Yangon, and has been international consultant for the Myanmar Emergency Medicine development program, MOHS Myanmar. This has resulted in Emergency medicine recognised as a specialty, emergency training and emergency departments developed in the major universities and tertiary hospitals.
She assisted in MCI plan development for Yangon General Hospital, as well as COVID management in 2020. She was awarded an IFEM Humanitarian Award 2021, for her work in Tanzania and Myanmar and now works for the Royal Flying Doctors Service in South Australia, continuing care for those with limited access.
